Instructions to the Corinthians
They had divisions and different factions in the church (1 Corinthians 1: 10)
They were caught up in worldly jealousy and quarrelling (1 Corinthians 3: 3)
They were not bringing proper church discipline on a man who was sleeping with his father’s wife (1 Corinthians 5: 1-6)
They were suing each other and taking each other to court (1 Corinthians 6: 1-6)
They were getting rowdy and drunk during the Lord’s Supper (1 Corinthians 11: 17)
They were not acting right with regard to spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12: 1-13: 13)
Proverbs 4: 23
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Ephesians 6: 10-14
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place.
2 Corinthians 5: 21
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Psalm 23: 3
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
1 Timothy 6: 11-12
But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called.
