Today the sermon started with Brian Smith giving his testimony.

Duke University - Tips for Peace of mind

1. The absence of suspicion and resentment.
2. Not living in the past.
3. Not wasting time and energy fighting conditions you cannot change.
4. Force yourself to stay involved with the living world.
5. Refuse to indulge in self-pity.
6. Cultivate the old-fashioned virtues–love, humor, compassion and loyalty.
7. Do not expect too much of yourself.
8. Find something bigger than yourself to believe in.

Psalm 29: 10-11
The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;  the Lord is enthroned as King forever. The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.

Judges 6:22-24
22 When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the Lord, he exclaimed, “Alas, Sovereign Lord! I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face!” 23 But the Lord said to him, “Peace! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.” 24 So Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and called it The Lord Is Peace. To this day it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

Peace at home
Proverbs 17:1
Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife.
Proverbs 30:33
For as churning cream produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Encourage one another and build each other up

Peace at work
Colossians 3:23-24
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Peace in things you cannot control
Romans 8
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Matthew 10
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Colossians 1
16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
